The Tiffany-style stained glass roof soars in the rotunda of the Palm Room at the Empress Hotel in Victoria, BC, Canada. The roof had caved in during a snowstorm in the 1960's and covered over. It was rediscovered while a $45 million remodel of the hotel was taking place in 1989 and restored to its former glory with period glass gathered from all over the world. A whisper is magnified many times over while standing standing directly under the roof, and a normal conversation can be heard by shop keepers quite some distance away.
